So you've taken a look at the gallery and decided to have BK Army Painting Studios paint your army for you. Great!  The pages in this service guide will walk you through the process of commissioning an army. Click on the buttons above to go through the service guide in detail.
  • The "Quoting" link describes the quoting process: the information we need, and what you can expect prior to your initial down payment.
  • The "Painting" link describes not just the painting of your new army, but also receiving, cleaning, assembly, and anything else that happens up through your final approval of your commission.
  • The "Shipping" link covers everything that happens once you've given your final approval of the commission, from packaging, to shipment, to followup
  • The "Basing" link describes your options for basing your models.
  • The "Pricing" link describes our general pricing structure.

Here is the basic summary of the process in creating your new army:

  1. Ordering – you submit an order to us, we quote the job, you approve the quote and send us the deposit (cost of materials + 50% of the labor).
  2. Models are ordered by us, or you send us models.
  3. Receiving – We sort and inventory received parts.  This is the most likely cause of a delay – backordered models or delays in shipping.
  4. Assembly – Models are assembled, if necessary.
  5. Painting – Models are painted.
  6. Inspection – Models are inspected and verified against the original order and instructions.
  7. Digital photography – 2-4 pictures of each unit and centerpiece model are taken and sent to the client, along with a final bill for the project.
  8. Final Approval – Client approves project and sends balance of payment, or requests alterations.  If alterations are requested, the models involved are sent back to painting. Otherwise, a minimum of two coats of matte sealer are then applied to the models.
  9. Packing – Models are packaged for shipment and delivered to the shipper.  E-mail confirmation of this delivery will be sent to the client.
  10. Transit – Most projects reach the client in about 2-4 days.
  11. Follow-up – A week after we estimate that you’ve received the package, we’ll follow up with an e-mail to make sure that everything is OK!

Congratulations!  You’re now the proud owner of a new, fully-painted army that anyone would be happy to put on the tabletop!  This whole process will generally take 2-5 weeks.
