Here are some of the questions most commonly asked by clients or potential clients:

Q: How do I commission an army from you?

A: You begin by requesting a quote. You can contact me by phone, e-mail, or through the form on this website. See the QUOTE page of the service guide for the information that I will need from you.

Q: How long does it take for my army to arrive after I approve the quote?

A: That depends on how long it takes to get the materials. If we're ordering the materials for you, they will usually arrive in about a week. I usually estimate about two weeks maximum for each project, with another week to ship the completed models to you. So I would expect between 3-5 weeks to complete your project, barring unforseen delays (such as delayed shipments, the most common cause of project delays). Please don't give me grief until six weeks have passed - after that, I deserve anything you care to give me.

Q: I really need this army by X. Can you help?

A: Maybe. The problem isn't so much the size of your order as it is availability of materials and complexity of the paint job. At a bare minimum, I may be able to get an army acquired, painted, and shipped to you within two weeks.

Q: How often will I hear from you?

A: I love to hear from clients or potential clients. But as a rule, you will receive an e-mail from me at the following stages of the project:

  • Project quoting/ordering
  • Receipt of models (whether from you or from a supplier)
  • Completion of painting (for final approval)
  • Shipment (with tracking numbers)

Q: I'd really like to see some WIP pictures. Can you send them to me?

A: Well...I could. I usually prefer not to, however, because WIP pictures can tend to scare some clients, because the methods that I use make the intermediate steps look messy, odd, or amateurish. The final product will be a fully-painted army, but it rarely comes together until I'm almost complete. That's why I try to make sure during quoting that I understand what the client wants.

The one exception to this is when I'm doing a complicated conversion at a client's request, when I will send pics of the unpainted conversion to ensure that I'm meeting the client's vision.

Q: I'd like to save money on assembly by doing it myself. How do I ship the models to you?

A: You can ship them to the address at the left. Please package the models carefully, with plenty of packing foam or bubble-wrap. If an excessive number of models (10+)arrive damaged, I will have to charge you a fee for repair, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Also, please note that while you can ship the models to me in an Army Transport tray or something similar, I prefer NOT to receive models in such a fashion. Those trays are not ideal for shipment as packages through the mail.

Q: Can you duplicate X paintjob?

A: Maybe. BK Army Painting Studio has its own style, and within that style, we have a great deal of flexibility to match existing work. However, I cannot guarantee that it will turn out exactly the same. If you're worried about matching as closely as possible, please send us a sample model - even if its something we painted!
